I have met many friends over social media. I love making new friends. Please feel free to connect with me just about anywhere with @crysgriffin
Welcome to my personal page.....As you know my name is Crystal. You can call me Crys (which sounds like "Chris, not "Cries" btw!). I'm from Louisiana. Most of what I do is photography, art, and I'm starting to get into tattoo design, and I even do a little poetry. Yeah I am a creative soul. That's about the only talent I have. LOL! Anyways, this is my website. You can check out my stuff by clicking the links above. You can also find me just about anywhere with @crysgriffin if you like. I'm on facebook, twitter, instagram. No i don't have snapchat, can't stand it!! I DO have the snapchat app but I ONLY use it for the filters, I do not share things on there.

Other than that I am a down to earth God fearing southern girl. I love me a little country music like Luke Bryan and keith urban, Brett Young, Michael Ray, Kane Brown. I listen to just about anything from that to Christian Hip-Hop like Lecrae and Trip Lee, Tedashii and I also like Christian Alternative too like Skillet and Three Days Grace.

I love watching The Walking Dead (Daryl is my man!), WWE (AJ Styles baby!!), I even watch New Japan Pro-Wrestling (Bullet Club!) and Ring Of Honor (I love Marty Scurll and Bullet Club Boys!) I'm Bullet Club 100%. Some other things I love watching are Arrow, I just started watching Game Of Thrones also. I love Ghost Adventures, Ink Masters.

Well that's enough about me. Feel free to connect with me if you need a friend. I don't give out personal family stuff in public. Some of my account are set to private, so don't panic. Just add me! I follow back. Below is my story of how I got into photography and art. And I will be adding more to my Bio as I go along so please bare with me. Thanks guys!

My Photography Story...

From the first time I can remember, I've really always had either my art supplies with me, or a camera. I've always loved art. Whether it be with pencils and pens or with a camera. I've only recently started taking my photography seriously. This website is my story.

It's not so much a photography and/or artist page, or business page. It's more like the story of who I am. Where I've been, what I've been through in this little country life of mine. Like Florida Georgia Line's song says "you know you came from it, and some day you'll return to it." Well I've lived in the city (small city) for the last several years. I've put up with people, the kind of people you don't let in your home unattended. I've had a few good friends. I've come to discover that the only people that you can really trust are those that truly love you. And I found out that the "elm shade red rose clay" I grew up on is where my butt needs to be!!

My love for photography, or well I should say my "taking it seriously" moment started with two things. Number 1, I basically have very few good photos from my wedding, and two, a trip to a garage sale. I found a black bag sitting on a table with other junk around it. It caught my eye because it was sitting on a bright red, BIG, book. This was back in 2004 mind you. I opened the black bag and to my suprise was a camera. It wasn't something that should have been in a museum, but it was pretty none the less. I asked the lady how much it was and she said "Well, it was my grandmother's camera, I found it and the book in the top of her closet". So , I figured she was gonna ask a lot for it, but she says "I was asking five dollars for it". I was suprised. So I bought it. My mom says to me "you know how to use that?" And all I could say was "nope". So after I took it home, I had no idea how to use it. It had numbers on a dial that I didn't know what to do with. It had numbers on the lens that I didn't know about. There was only one thing I could do, learn. So I sat down with that big bright red book and I started reading. I can't remember how many times I read that book. I think there are two or three different sets of highlighter colors for each time I read through the book.

Don't get me wrong I have come a long way from opening those pages and trying to figure out what to do with that machine. I've always loved taking pics, I think I have a tote full of old photos that I've taken. But nothing "professional" style. Just snapshots from around the house, camping trips, parties, and family. Everbody who knows me knows that Crystal is probably gonna bring her camera with her. Everybody knew that if you didn't want your picture taken, you stay away from her! I find myself thinking "if only I had taken my photos seriously I'd be a lot better than I am now". But hey, you learn something new every day.

The farthest back I can remember about taking pics was doing a "photoshoot" with my mom and stepdad at home and at the park. (Check out "Photo Past") That was when I was about 11 I think. Who knows! But I remember that my stepdad (Ray) was on crutches, he had an accident at work and busted up his ankle. I remember taking photos in front of the big army tank in the park. Now I bet if I think harder I can remember further back but that's another day LOL!

I haven't really been through a lot of cameras. I guess I treat them like children. I was late getting into the digital world, I always (and still do) loved the old cheap film cameras. A few years back I came across a camera (yes at another garage sale lol) that looked like a brick. It is a Argus C3, that was made during the wars. It was used by the army journalists during the war. Obviously WWII! I also have a few more little odd and end cameras. Nothing museum worthy, but maybe I'll get lucky one day!

Photography isn't the only "art" passion I have. I've always loved to draw. I don't actually remember "learning how to draw". I think I've always been able to draw. I guess I don't really have a specialty in art. I just love art in general. I love creating things. I went through a scrapbooking phase here while back, but got out of it because it got expensive. LOL.

With my photography though, I see the beauty in the details. I'm not one for taking a big expansive landscape photo, (but I will!) I like more along the lines of getting a photo of that weird looking tree, or the bark pealing off the other tree. Now I love all types of photos, but I have my weaknesses too.

Here lately I've been concentrating on my photography becuase I've been having trouble with my hands. I think I've got that carpal tunnel crap that you get. My hands go numb when I hold a pencil too long, etc etc lol!

I guess I should get to the details by now! LOL! My name as you know is Crystal, you can call me Crys. (and not it's not cries, it's CRYS, like Chris). I think that's nickname has been with me for many years now. I was named after a country music legend! Mrs. Crystal Gayle. My mom wanted to name me Loretta Lynn, but my family said it was too old fashion LOL! I was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. But I've lived in DeRidder most of my life. With the exception of when we moved away a few times, but we've always came back. You can never get away from where your from I guess. I live in Rosepine, Louisiana now, which is like 5 miles from where I lived before. Didn't like the neighborhood I lived in, so we moved out. Moved back to the country.

I got married 11+ years ago to my best friend, David. We met in 2003, and got married in 2004. I've put up with a lot from him, and vice versa, but I wouldn't change it for the world. We have one little boy born in 2008. Who is set on being a cop. That's all he's ever talked about. If you told me 11 years ago that I'd be married and have a kid a couple years later, I would have laughed at you. But when it happens, it happens!

I guess what it all boils down to is that I'm just a short country girl, who "re-found" her roots and she's staying there! So if you don't like it, change the channel! Becuase "that's what country is!"I love 4 wheelin', (if you don't know don't ask), camping, gettin dirty (down boys!) and anything else your typical "country girls" do. I love country music, especially my Luke Bryan. Hottie McHottie!!

I've met a lot of friends online over the years. I was a Keith Urban "groupie" for a while haha. That was fun, I miss those days! I've met people from everywhere. Even got to make a dream come true in a trip to Nashville, TN. Followed Keith around Nashville for a week. But I still have a lot I want to do before the good lord calls me upstairs. And I'm gonna try to make the best of it!! - Crys
